How do we do Ethics?

AC Associates has developed its own set of ethical norms. They are not original. Most were chosen because they make sense.

"Do to others as you would have them do to you" may sum them up. We treat our clients, customers and prospective customers with the courtesy, honesty and respect with which we prefer to be treated. Or, I suppose you could say, we treat people the way we would like our mothers to be treated.

"Do no harm." Even when we are unable for some reason to fulfill a customer's request exactly the way she/he wants it fulfilled, we will not harm the customer, the customer's web site, or the customer's computers. When doing IT consulting we are often more concerned with the customer's data (address books, databases, documents) than is the customer.

Provide documentation. Too many people in the IT business and Web business try to guard their knowledge in the [mistaken] belief that they are guarding their job or contract. We believe that for us to do so would be to cheat the customer. We provide internal and external documentation for our Web work, templates for graphics, in the knowledge that the customer has a right to the work we are paid to do on her behalf.

Writing is hard work. Each of the pieces contributed to this site were "provoked" by reading, listening, conversing and trying to understand.

But. . . coming up with a written, comprehensible article has taken a lot of work.
Sometimes an article will not speak to you.
Sometimes it simply will not make sense. Let us know

Thanks.

ETHICS -- we find no easy answers. But we must continue to ponder, think, question, wonder, and try to be ethical in business, personal and relationships.
